Andrew Kim ’23, mechanical engineering, has done a lot during his time at Bucknell. He has been part of the Society & Technology Residential College, a STEM Scholar, a Bucknell Outdoor Education & Leadership leader, president of the Bucknell University Makers Society, a residential advisor, a research assistant in the Civil Engineering Department and a student engineering consultant with the Bucknell Small Business Development Center (SBDC). But he credits the Grand Challenges Scholars Program (GCSP) for opening his eyes to the myriad possibilities within the College of Engineering.
Hands-on Workshop Teaches Bucknell Engineers About Designing for Different Cultures
Students at Bucknell and in the College of Engineering are exposed to a bevy of extracurricular learning opportunities, both on campus and off. Recently, Prof. Donna Ebenstein, biomedical engineering department chair, sent five engineers spanning four disciplines and a pair of class years to the University of Delaware for the Design for the Developing World Workshop, which is run by Bucknell chemical engineering graduate Julie Karand ’12, an assistant professor of biomedical engineering at Delaware.
Internship in Residence Program Adds Valuable Option for Engineers
Today, students use internships to develop valuable skills, build a network of professional colleagues and propel themselves to a meaningful career. This summer, Bucknell’s College of Engineering has made internships more accessible at an earlier stage through its new Internship in Residence Program.
2022 Bucknell Engineering Senior Design Expo
At Bucknell, our mission is to provide real-world projects in and out of the classroom by engaging engineering students in practical, hands-on educational experiences, both within their majors and through interdisciplinary projects and courses. One such experience is the opportunity to collaborate with external partners, from nonprofits to start-ups to multinational corporations.
